JOE LOLLEY: I WILL COME BACK STRONGER

21 May 2014

Winger eager for more after Watford showing

Huddersfield Town’s Joe Lolley showed a glimpse of what he is capable of with a goal in the win at Watford – and his next goal is to get in the best shape possible ahead of the 2014/15 season.

Town’s 4-1 win at Watford was the winger’s first start for the Club following a disrupted few months since his signing. Cameo appearances against Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley were all that Lolley could expend as he struggled with injury.

However, following a visit to a specialist Lolley returned to First Team action sooner than expected and produced an enterprising display against last season’s Play-Off Finalists.

Speaking to htafc.com at PPG Canalside, where he is currently working hard on his fitness, he discussed his injury:

“I recovered a lot quicker than I expected; in my mind I was focusing on getting ready for the start of pre-season. To be involved against Leicester and then to start against Watford and score was brilliant, but it has left me wanting more!

“I am still working hard though, and will continue to do so over the summer ahead of pre-season.”

A pre-season which will be a first for Lolley at any level, as he explained: “I have never really done anything like it at any level, so I have mixed feelings. All the work that I am put through will be new to me and I am nervous, but I am looking forward to being in good shape ahead of the start of the season.

“The games will be tough and will provide us with good tests, but the one that we are all looking forward to is the Newcastle match. It is a good chance for us to showcase our ability against Premier League opposition.”

The 21 year-old will get time away during the summer and is looking forward to seeing how England get on in Brazil, whilst also aiming to complete his Panini World Cup sticker collection.

“I need 13 to complete my collection! I need to get swapping with some of the lads because it is just a waste of money buying them now,” he said. “Adam Clayton sent me a picture of his book so it looks like he has jumped on the bandwagon; I will have to see what he has got.

“I love watching football and I hope to try and watch every game of the World Cup, whilst spending time with my family,” he continued. “I like the look of England’s squad, there is a youthful edge to it which I think will make us exciting to watch.”
