National competition played at PPG Canalside

Huddersfield Town’s PPG Canalside was chosen to host the regional heat of a nationwide Premier League competition.

The Under-15 regional qualifier for Category 2 clubs was held for the first ever time at the Club’s training ground.

The qualifiers are part of a nationwide competition hosted by the Premier League annually.

The competition featured five teams from the north region with Town taking on Barnsley, Crewe Alexandra, Leeds United and Sheffield United.

Huddersfield Town’s Academy Manager Mark Lillis said:

“The competition is a fantastic one to be involved in as it is the only time in the season that the U15s play competitively; matches are normally friendlies.

“The standard of the opposition was high and I thought the lads represented the Club superbly.

“It is a real privilege to have been selected to host the event and an indication of how well equipped and how far the Club has come with PPG Canalside. It is good to see the Club receiving recognition from the biggest league in the world.

“On behalf of the Club I would like to thank the Premier League for choosing us to host this year’s heat.”
