CLAYTS BELIEVES IN BOUNCEBACKABILITY

11 March 2014

Midfielder targeting all three points at Charlton

Adam Clayton believes the Town squad has what it takes to take all three points from Wednesday night’s game at Charlton Athletic.

Town come into the game on the back of three wins and three defeats in the last six games and the midfielder wants to make it four wins from seven at the expense of the Addicks tomorrow.

“This season the squad has shown it has the character to bounce back from defeats and all the lads are raring to go and aiming for the win at Charlton on Wednesday,” Adam told htafc.com.

“I think we have a lot of ability in the squad; you can see that during most of our performances. I’m confident we will show that tomorrow.

“We are still building here. We’ve still got around a quarter left of what is only our second season in the Championship.

“We’ve played some lovely football in the League this season. We’ve had some bad games too, but I think the team plays as good a style of football as anyone in the division when we’re at the top of our game.

“We pass the ball and even when we have lost, we’re in games for the most part. There’s definitely been a major improvement in the style of football and it’s nice to be part of a team like that.

“It’s just about getting some consistency and then we can start fighting for something at the top end of this division.”

Wednesday night’s game is the fourth meeting of the two sides this season, but Charlton could be a slightly different this time around given Chris Powell’s departure and the arrival of new Head Coach Jose Riga.

Adam continued: “They changed their management on Tuesday and that will add a slightly different dimension to the game. They’ve had a little change-around in players too, but we still know them well from our three previous games this season.  I believe we can go to the Valley and get the win.”

Clayton reserved his final words for the Town fans who will make the long journey to and from the Capital to support the team on Wednesday evening:

“The away support from Huddersfield is brilliant; you can hear them no matter where you go and I’m sure Wednesday will be no different in a big game for the Club. Hopefully we can send them back home after watching a good performance.”
