ST. JAMES'S DONATES TO THE FOUNDATION

12 June 2014

Club Partner Louise Woollard presents cheque at Ashbrow

Grant-making charity St.James’s Place has made a substantial donation of £2,300 to the Town Foundation.

St. James’s Place Foundation is a grant-making charity with a difference. The vast majority of funds raised come from fundraising or generous donations made by the Partners and employees of St. James’s Place Wealth Management. These funds are then matched pound for pound by the company. Over the last 22 years the St. James’s Place Community has raised and distributed in excess of £34 million to good causes.

Recently, they have made a substantial donation of £2,300 to the Town Foundation, with the specific request that it is gifted to one of the many schools it currently works with in the community. Ashbrow School was chosen to enable them to enhance a new scheme within the school that will encourage parents and carers to work in partnership, ensuring that their children have excellent attendance levels and are good achievers.

This has been made possible thanks to Louise Woollard, a Commercial Partner at Huddersfield Town Football Club and also a member of the Committee of the aforementioned Foundation, in Leeds.

Louise became involved with the Town Foundation in 2013 when she sponsored a Fashion Show to raise funds for the charity. Louise has subsequently visited the Breakfast Clubs run by the Town Foundation and seen first-hand the real benefits these breakfast clubs deliver.

Louise visited the school along with Corporate Fundraiser Mandy Taylor and was treated to a very special assembly with the children and staff.

“When I met Dora Plant, the Headteacher at Ashbrow, I was inspired by her dedication and motivation to improve the lives of the children she teaches,” Louise explained.

“Her scheme to promote better engagement with families and opportunities to enrich the lives of young people, some of whom are far less fortunate than most of us, really struck a chord with me and the other committee members. We were delighted to be able to support this project and I look forward to watching the parents and pupils of Ashbrow take advantage of the opportunities that the project brings.”

Dora Plant, Headteacher at Ashbrow added: “Thank you for your kindness and compassion, the children know that you are helping them to make their world more wonderful”
