CHESTERFIELD AWAY IN CAPITAL ONE CUP

17 June 2014

2014/15 Capital One Cup First Round Draw made

Huddersfield Town will play away at League 1 Chesterfield in the First Round of the 2014/15 Capital One Cup.

The Spireites, managed by Paul Cook, were crowned League 2 Champions last season and feature former Town Player of the Year Gary Roberts among their ranks.

The two sides last played in a competitive fixture in the 2011/12 season, when goals from Jordan Rhodes and Lee Novak gave the Terriers a 2-0 win at the Proact Stadium.

More recently the two sides met in a pre-season friendly ahead of the last campaign, with Chesterfield winning 2-1 despite Danny Ward’s 12th minute strike.

The First Round draw was seeded based on final league positions from 2013/14 season, and regionalised north and south; as a Championship club, Town are seeded and face one of 17 unseeded northern clubs.

All First Round matches will be played during the week commencing 11 August 2014

In the 2013/14 season, Town progressed to the Third Round of the competition courtesy of home wins over Bradford City and Charlton Athletic before falling to Premier League Hull City at their KC Stadium by a single goal.

More information on the game will follow via htafc.com.
