Young Terriers draw with Strachan Football Foundation
A young Huddersfield Town Under-18 side has drawn 1-1 with an Under-19 side from the Strachan Football Foundation this morning in a game played at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre.
Lead Professional Development Coach Tony Carss fielded a team made up predominantly of first year scholars against their older opposition and they could have won the game after an impressive second-half performance, only to be let down by some profligate finishing.
After a goalless first 45, the Strachan Football Foundation side – the brainchild of Scotland Manager Gordon Strachan – made their extra physicality count and opened the scoring from a corner just before the hour mark.
However, the Terriers fought back and equalised through a nine pass move that resulted in winger Jack Boyle sending a ball across the face of goal for substitute Jack Senior to turn home.
The Under-18s will now return to PPG Canalside ahead of their next friendly, which will take place away at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday 9 August.
