PRE-SEASON PREVIEW: STALYBRIDGE

30 July 2014

Under-21s in action this evening

Town’s Development Squad is back in action this evening as it travels to Stalybridge Celtic for its latest pre-season friendly.

The young Terriers will wear the red and black second strip at Bower Fold in tonight’s 7.45pm kick-off against their hosts from the Conference North – the same division as Guiseley, who Town’s Development Squad beat 4-1 in a pre-season friendly last week (click HERE for full info).

With Player/Manager Keith Briggs in charge, Stalybridge finished 19th in the Conference North last season. They’ve already played eight friendlies ahead of the new campaign; beating Salford City, Conwy Borough and Stockport Town; drawing with FC United of Manchester and Southport and losing to Glossop North End, Mossley and Romanians Dinamo Bucuresti.

A scorer for Celtic in two of those games has been striker Liam Dickinson, who Town fans will remember played for Town on loan from Brighton at the start of the 2008/09 season; netting six goals in 13 League starts.

Another former Town man in Stalybridge’s ranks is former Academy graduate Aidan Chippendale. He made one appearance for Town’s First Team in a 1-0 win at Bristol Rovers in March 2011 and has subsequently played for Bury, Chester and Alfreton Town.

Town fans can pay at the turnstiles for tonight’s game, with admission priced at £7 adults; £5 concessions and £1 for children under 14 years old who are accompanied by an adult.
