PORTUGUESE FRIENDLY CHANGE
8 July 2014
Town’s opponent in the open friendly on Saturday 19 July in Portugal has changed.
Mark Robins’ side was due to face SC Olhanense in a 7.30pm kick-off, but the Portuguese side is now unable to fulfil that commitment.
As a result, the Terriers will now play a different Portuguese Segunda Liga side – SC Portimonense.
Fans should note that the game will be played at a different venue – the Estadio Da Nora in Albufeira.
Admission to this fixture, which will kick-off at the earlier time of 6pm, is now free.
Huddersfield Town’s Head of Football Operations Ross Wilson commented:
“Over the last 24 hours, it became clear that SC Olhanense is undergoing a lot of changes on the playing side following relegation and they are currently unable to fulfil the friendly on 19 July.
“However, having this game in Portugal is important part for Mark and the team’s preparation and we are happy that SC Portimonense will now provide the opposition.
“We were keen that any replacement game should be as close to our base in Vale de Lobo and this game, which will be played in Albufeira, is still only 30 minutes away, which will hopefully ensure minimal inconvenience for our fans that are travelling to Portugal to see the team.”
