Attacking midfielder joins on season-long loan

Huddersfield Town has today secured the services of attacking midfielder Radoslaw Majewski on a season-long loan from Nottingham Forest.

The 27 year-old Polish international has today completed a medical at PPG Canalside and will wear the number 45 shirt during the 2014/15 season.

A creative, attack-minded midfielder, ‘Radi’ has made nine appearances for his country and over 140 appearances at Championship level since moving to the City Ground – initially on loan – in the summer of 2009.

Huddersfield Town Manager Mark Robins commented:

“We have made it clear throughout the closed season that we would stay patient during the transfer window and today that patience has paid dividends with the arrival of Radoslaw. He is a top class Championship player, especially in the number 10 role, and we’re delighted to bring him to the Club.

“He ticks the box of having proven pedigree at this level, playing regularly for a side competing towards the top of the division each season. He has the ability to come in and make an immediate impact on our First Team and will be a major asset in our attacking options during the course of the season.

“I’m delighted this move has come to fruition. During my time here we’ve seen hard work and perseverance pay off with some excellent additions and I think he will prove to be another. We identified Radi as a target some time ago, but we’ve had to wait until circumstances made him available. When those circumstances fell into place, we’ve moved quickly.

“Like every other club, we are always looking to strengthen but we will continue to do so in a patient and well thought out way.”

Born in Pruszkow, central Poland, 5’ 7” tall Radoslaw started his career at hometown club Znicz Pruszkow.

In 2006, just as he was breaking into the Polish senior side, Radi moved to Dyskobolia Grodzisk Wielkopolski of the Polish top flight, the Ekstraklasa. In two seasons there he made 70 appearances, scoring five goals and winning one Polish Cup win and two Ekstraklasa Cup wins

In 2008 the Club merged with fellow top flight side Polonia Warsaw. Radi made a further 41 apps in the following season some of which came in the Europa League.

His form attracted interest in England and he joined Championship Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan. He was an instant success, scoring from 30 yards after just 53 seconds in the crunch local clash with Derby County in August 2009.

His impressive performances during his loan spell saw him linked with the Premier League but he finally joined Forest permanently in May 2010 on a three year deal.  He subsequently extended his stay at Forest by another three and a half years in January 2013.

As Town fans will remember, he celebrated with a stunning hat-trick in Forest’s 6-1 home win over Town during the same month.

To date Majewski has scored 19 goals in 162 Forest appearances, 29 of which came last season. He’s also earned four of his nine caps for Poland during his time in England.

Majewski is Town’s third signing of the transfer window, following Joe Murphy (click HERE)and Lee Peltier (click HERE).
