World Cup Draw down to final two

Two Blue and White Foundation members will be watching Sunday’s World Cup final knowing that they could win £2,014!

Linda Johnson from Barkisland and Carl Barrett from Halifax both purchased tickets for the Club’s World Cup draw and were drawn out as Argentina and Germany respectively.

They already know that they have a guaranteed £200 for reaching the final, but the winning team on Sunday night will earn one of them £2014.

Speaking after Argentina’s dramatic penalty shoot-out victory against Holland, Linda, who is a White Rose Season Card holder, told that she didn’t know the result of Wednesday’s match until the following morning.

“When the game got to seventy minutes on Wednesday night I went to bed because I thought that the game was going to penalties and that Argentina would lose! It wasn’t until the morning when my husband brought me a coffee singing ‘don’t cry for me Argentina’ then I knew they had won!

“When the World Cup started I wanted England to win, but since their exit we have been supporting Argentina, which has been difficult for obvious reasons!

“I think they have got a good chance of winning on Sunday; I don’t want Germany to win for a number of reasons. It will definitely make watching the final more interesting.

“It will be great to win some money and it is good to know that we have helped raise money for the football clubs Academy at the same time.”

Carl Barrett, who will be cheering on Germany, said:

“It has made watching this year’s World Cup more exciting. I am over the moon to have reached the final and even if Germany lose, I will have won some money.

“Argentina is a fantastic team, but I think Germany has a good chance, they are extremely organised."
