Wear blue and white on the opening day
A Football League initiative is urging football fans across the country to create a #WallofColour on the opening day of the season.
As the new Sky Bet Football League season kicks-off, fans across the country are being set the challenge of creating a ‘Wall of Colour’ at their side’s opening home league match. Fans can get involved by donning their club’s famous colours, as well as finding the most innovative ways to show off their love for their team through social media using #WallofColour.
Huddersfield Town fans can create a #WallofColour when Bournemouth visits the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday 9 August.
Shaun Harvey, the Chief Executive of The Football League, said: “The beginning of the new season is always a special time, with supporters full of hope and expectation that this season is going to be their year.
“It’s great to see Huddersfield Town calling on its fans to create a Wall of Colour at the John Smith’s Stadium and I hope that its supporters rise to the challenge. Every side will want to make a strong start to the new season and the three points on offer could go on to make all the difference when the trophies are being handed out next Spring.”
Huddersfield Town’s Communications Manager David Threlfall-Sykes said:
“The opening game of the season is always a big occasion and to have it at home is fantastic. In line with the Football League’s #WallofColour initiative, we want to create a sea of blue and white at the stadium for the players to walk out to ahead of kick-off.
“When we have tried this in the past we have always had a great response and the atmosphere has been brilliant; we hope that it can be replicated against Bournemouth.
"Combined with the anticipation ahead of the debut of the North Stand Loyals (click HERE) on this match day, it promises to be a great occasion."
