Midfielder happy to be involved
Oscar Gobern made just his eighth start of the season against Charlton on Saturday and is hoping to continue in the heart of Town’s midfield ahead of the trip to Bournemouth.
In total, Oscar has appeared 18 times for Mark Robins this season and of late has replaced the injured Jonathan Hogg in Town’s midfield trio.
Speaking after Charlton, he said: “It was nice to be back involved. I have been in and out of the team throughout the season and it was good to be given a starting spot. Sadly the result didn’t go the right way, but I think we can take some positives ahead of tomorrow’s match.
“We could have easily won the game given the amount of chances that we created.
“I haven’t played as much I would have liked and it has been frustrating," he added. "I want to do well for Huddersfield Town though, and whenever I am given a chance that is what I try and do.”
Town’s trip to Bournemouth is their longest of the season and with it scheduled on a Tuesday night, means the Terriers won’t return until Wednesday afternoon.
“It is part and parcel of football; we are all used to it,” said Oscar. “The back to back matches will become more regular as the season wears on and fixtures begin to pile up; we just have to get on with it and do our best.
“We have good memories of the last time we played them and we will be doing our all for three points. I think they have changed slightly in terms of style and the Manager has warned us of their threats.”
The match at the Goldsands is the start of a tough away double for Town who take on Leeds United this Saturday.
“I have fond memories of the match at Elland Road last season, but our focus is on Bournemouth right now and on doing the business on Tuesday night. Hopefully we can bring some points back up with us, which will tee us up nicely for the West Yorkshire derby.
“We want to move up the league and to do that our away form has to improve,” he continued. “We have been good at home this season, but have been lacking on the road at times.”
