Midfielder proud to win Player of the Month award
Whether you like or not – Adam Clayton’s beard is here to stay, well, for the time being at least!
There is no doubting though that with it, he has produced some of his best form in a Huddersfield Town shirt since he signed in 2012.
And the fans think so too, with the Club’s Blue and White Foundation members voting him the Player of the Month for December.
“I feel like Samson with it, I can’t lose it,” he told htafc.com.
“My missus believes that I am being superstitious because I have been playing well, but I am not like that,” he added.
“She is dying for me to shave it off, but I am staying strong at the moment. I am going to take it as far as possible until she decides to shave it off in the middle of the night, which I don’t think is far away!”
The midfielder’s form during December aided Town’s good form which saw them finish the year just outside the Play-Offs. His form has been acknowledged by the fans and as a result he will collect his Player of the Month award ahead of Saturday’s match against Millwall.
“It is nice to be recognised by the fans, especially after my period out of the side,” Clayton said. “I put in a lot of work when I was out of the side; I was in the gym every day and trained hard to make sure I was ready.
“I was determined to come back fitter and stronger,” he continued. “I am proud of the award because at one point things were pretty bleak. I didn’t know what was going to happen; thankfully I only missed three games and it is nice to be rewarded.”
