ATKINSON LOANED TO BRADFORD

24 January 2014

Midfielder moves for rest of the season

Midfielder Chris Atkinson has today joined Sky Bet League 1 side Bradford City on a Standard Loan for the remainder of the 2013/14 season.

This move to the Coral Windows Stadium will be the 21 year-old Academy graduate’s fourth loan spell and his second at League 1 level following 28 starts for Tranmere Rovers during the first half of this season.

Chris has made a total of 72 career appearances, 13 of which have come for the Terriers.

He will now further his senior experience by joining the Bantams, who are currently 13th in the table with 33 points from 26 games. Managed by Phil Parkinson, they are next in action when they take on Preston North End at home on Tuesday evening.

Huddersfield Town Manager Mark Robins told htafc.com:

“We believe this loan move to Bradford City is the next step in Chris’ development as a footballer.

“His loan spells have seen him steadily progress up the leagues and, after a challenging loan at Tranmere Rovers at the start of this season, he will now join a team that will be aiming to make a surge towards the Play-Offs before the end of the campaign. This loan offers different challenges and opportunities to develop.

“We will carefully monitor Chris’ progress at Bradford. He needs to be playing regular senior football at his age and this is an important time in his career.”

Town's FA Cup game against Charlton on Saturday is £10 adults & £5 concessions at the gate!
