Striker makes immediate impact at Oldham
Jon Stead made an immediate impression at loan club Oldham with the assist for the winning goal against Swindon.
The on loan striker neatly assisted Jonathan Grounds to score the winner at the County Ground.
Chris Atkinson was also in action and Paul Mullin recently made his debut for Vauxhall Motors; reviews of their performances are in htafc.com’s loan report below.
Stead made his debut when he replaced Jonson Clarke-Harris in the 63rd minute. He almost made an immediate impression with a deft header that was tipped round the post by Wes Foderingham.
However, he went on to provide the assist for the winning goal a few minutes later when he laid the ball off to Jonathan Grounds to smash home after a superb flowing move.
Stead later praised the performance on his twitter account: “Great away performance; gritty, determined and all the signs from only one game point to a great set of lads. And a cheeky assist for me.”
Oldham moved up to 15th position in League 1 following this win and face Bristol City at home in their next match this Saturday.
Chris Atkinson made his first appearance for Bradford City this weekend in a 2-0 defeat away at Wolves.
Atkinson replaced striker Aaron McLean in the 28th minute following the dismissal of Bantams midfielder Nathan Doyle.
The game was always going to be an uphill task for the Bantams against an in-form Wolves side and in front of a 19,000 strong crowd. However, Atkinson was not deterred and provided energy in the middle of the park breaking up play on a few occasions.
Atkinson took to his Twitter account after the game: “The lads can take a lot of credit from today. It was never going to be easy going down to 10 but we give it our all out there! Thanks for the support.”
Bradford are in 13th position in League 1 and face Crewe Alexandra at home on Saturday.
Paul Mullin played 75 minutes for Vauxhall Motors as they came out 1-0 winners against Worcester in their latest outing at the end of January.
Striker Mullin filled in on the right hand side of midfield as Vauxhall Motors ended a run of three straight losses.
They now sit in 14th position in the Conference North and face Stockport on Tuesday night.
