LYNCH TO UNDERGO MINOR SURGERY

26 February 2014

Defender set to miss one month

Huddersfield Town defender Joel Lynch will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair his groin injury.

The Wales international missed six games with the issue after being forced off at Burnley on New Year’s Day.

Town’s medical team have enabled Joel to manage the issue until now and he was fit enough to return for a two game spell, but subsequently missed last weekend’s Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday due to ongoing issues with the injury.

As a result, Joel will undergo a surgical procedure to release his inguinal ligament on Thursday, which is likely to see him miss a month of action.

Huddersfield Town Manager Mark Robins commented:

“Losing Joel is a blow, because he’s been an integral part of the team this season and has performed very well.

“The medical staff and Joel have been working hard to manage this issue together until the end of the season, but we’re reached the point where it needs to get resolved.

“I know Joel will work hard on his rehabilitation and we’re already looking forward to welcoming him back in a month’s time.”
