‘Get Active’ at the Zone in 2015
Ladies have the chance to ‘Get Active’ in 2015 with a unique health programme being run at The Zone facility on St. Andrew’s Road, Huddersfield.
Aimed at women over 16, the latest ‘Get Active’ programme runs between 5.30pm and 7pm and is FREE for attendees, with limited spaces still available.
The programme is looking to encourage local women to kick start a healthier lifestyle by changing unhealthy habits, along with trying some fun taster sessions in different sports and exercises.
The course is led by the Huddersfield Community Trust, a charity that co-ordinates community delivery on behalf of Huddersfield Town.
The first female ‘Get Active’ programme started on 9 September and ran for eight weeks, with attendees losing a total of 99lbs over the length of the course - with one participant losing an amazing 18.5lb and a fabulous seven inches!
This programme covered informative sessions including the eat-well plate, portion control and the effects of alcohol, smoking and diabetes.
Physical taster sessions included pom-fitness, circuits, dodgeball, stretch and tone and how to get the very best out of home videos.
Regular ‘Get Active’ attendee Shirley Maude commented on the programme:
“What a wonderful class to inspire weight loss whilst getting active at the same time. The information given on lots of subjects has been so useful and informative. I recommend this class to anyone who is thinking about joining; I am so glad I did. The last eight weeks have been so enjoyable.”
Fellow attendee Katy Moorhouse also gave her opinion:
“The sessions were very informative and it has certainly made me think about how I can improve my own health and fitness, along with losing a bit of weight and the odd inch here and there. I found the taster fitness sessions fun, despite a few aches and pains. I am hoping to join the pom sessions when I return from my holiday. I have really enjoyed myself and the company has been great too.”
All sessions take place at the indoor facility at The Zone, which has large female changing rooms and a café.
