Town & Brentford to recreate ‘A Moment in History’

Across the weekend of 5-8 December, Huddersfield Town will join its fellow clubs by commemorating and celebrating the spirit of the Christmas Truce football matches of 1914 by taking part in a photographic event called ‘A Moment in History’.

For all the matches that take place in the Premier League, the Championship and The FA Cup Second Round, the 22 players who start each match will pose together with the Match Officials in a pre-match group photograph.

Clubs will then upload the photo via social media using the hashtag #FootballRemembers. All photos will be displayed on a special website called

The photographs kick off ‘Football Remembers Week’. This is a series of Christmas Truce related events running from Friday 5 December to Monday 15 December, and being delivered jointly by the Premier League, The FA and the Football League, in partnership with the British Council.

Professional football will be the starting point for the celebration that will engage football teams and fans the length and breadth of the country to create their own ‘Moment in History’. Any match of any size and age group can be uploaded. The aim of the website is to act as a moment of national record of football in 2014, a century on from the First World War. The photos will be preserved for future generations in the digital archives of the British Library.

HRH The Duke of Cambridge, President of The FA, said: “It promises to be a powerful way to engage and educate young people about such an important moment in our history. We all grew up with the story of soldiers from both sides putting down their arms on Christmas Day, and it remains wholly relevant today as a message of hope over adversity, even in the bleakest of times.”

Admission to Saturday's game is just £10 adults and seniors & £5 juniors at the gate!
