On 23 December, Frankie Bunn’s side was in Final Third Development League competition; a round robin cup competition. Having beaten Mansfield Town in the competition earlier in the season, the Development Squad fell behind after two individual errors were punished in South Yorkshire – but roared back to draw.
The first was a debut goal at Under-21 level for scholar Jack Boyle, who has been in red-hot scoring form for Tony Carss’ Under-18s, before striker Daniel Carr emerged from the bench to equalise in the final minute.
