TOWN TAKE ON LEAGUE LEADERS IN CUP

25 August 2014

Nottingham Forest up next for Lillis’ Terriers

Huddersfield Town will have to overcome unbeaten Nottingham Forest if they are to progress in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

Stuart Pearce’s Forest have been in imperious form during the opening weeks of the season, recording four wins from five matches.

Their only blemish came away at Bolton when they were held to a 2-2 draw.

The Tricky Trees will arrive in Huddersfield on the back of successive victories against Bournemouth and Reading respectively.

Forest came from behind to defeat fellow promotion contenders Bournemouth last Tuesday and followed up the result with an eye catching 4-0 victory over Reading on Saturday.

Despite being able to field one of the strongest Sky Bet Championship teams on paper, Forest has a fairly lengthy injury list.

Central defenders Kevin Wilson and Jamaal Lascelles have missed the start of the season through calf and knee injuries respectively, but have played in a recent Development Squad match. Stuart Pearce may see the Capital One Cup clash as a good opportunity to give them a competitive run out.

Midfielders David Vaughan (hamstring) and Henri Lansbury (knee) are likely to miss out, whilst striker Dexter Blackstock is back in light training and isn’t expected to play.

Upon taken charge in the summer, Pearce shuffled his pack with nine players departing (six permanent and three loan) with eight arriving at the City Ground. Seven of his signings were permanent deals with the most notable of them being record signing Britt Assombalonga (£5.5m from Peterborough). Former Terrier Jack Hunt joined on loan from Crystal Palace and looks to have rediscovered the form which saw the Eagles pay Town £1.5m for his services.

It is likely that Pearce will make changes for tomorrow night’s clash with a tough looking trip to Sheffield Wednesday awaiting his side on Saturday. The likes of Jamie Paterson, Dan Harding and Ben Osborn featured in the first round when they beat Tranmere Rovers 1-0.

Nottingham Forest team vs Reading (4-4-2):

Karl Darlow; Dan Harding, Danny Fox, Michael Mancienne, Jack Hunt; Michail Antonio, Andy Reid, Chris Cohen, Chris Burke, Matty Fryatt, Britt Assombalonga

Nottingham Forest team vs Tranmere Rovers (Capital One Cup) (4-2-3-1):

Karl Darlow; Dan Harding, Danny Fox, Jack Hobbs, Eric Lichaj; Michael Mancienne, Jamie Paterson; Michail Antonio, Ben Osborn, Chris Burke; Britt Assombalonga
