PELTIER NAMED CLUB CAPTAIN

7 August 2014

Robins hands armband to summer signing

Huddersfield Town Manager Mark Robins has handed the Club Captaincy to Lee Peltier ahead of the 2014/15 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Peltier, who has captained the side in the pre-season friendlies against Scunthorpe United, Sheffield United, Oldham Athletic and Newcastle United and has now been confirmed as the Club’s permanent Captain.

Huddersfield Town Manager Mark Robins explained:

“Lee is a leader. He is one of the strongest personalities in the dressing room and I want him to lead by example on the pitch, on the training ground and away from it too, which I’m sure he will. His performance on the field when we’re playing games has been there for all to see during pre-season.

“As you could tell from the reception he got at Tuesday night’s friendly against Newcastle, Huddersfield Town fans are glad to see him return. That tells me how well respected he is in the stands as well as by the staff and players at the Club, which is why we brought him back.

“Being Captain is a challenging role and the player wearing the armband has to be prepared for the role and the challenges that come with it, so it’s good that he has experience of this role previously. It’s a serious and important responsibility, but Lee will undoubtedly take it seriously and be good at it.”

Town’s Manager also explained that he wants every player to lead by example and take responsibility through their performances in the upcoming Sky Bet Championship season:

“As a collective, I want the players to stay organised in order to deliver the game plan we have set out. Every player has responsibilities within any formation in our team and they all need to deliver. As Captain, Lee’s task is to help make that happen.”

Peltier returned to the Club in the summer (click HERE for full information), having made 103 appearances for Town between 2009 and 2011.

In his time away, he has made a total of 113 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship for Leicester City, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest – 34 of which came in the 2013/14 season.

He was made Captain of Leeds United by former Town boss Neil Warnock in 2012.
