NORWOOD JOINS READING

21 August 2014

Midfielder moves for undisclosed fee

Midfielder Oliver Norwood has today joined fellow Championship club Reading for a significant undisclosed fee.

Northern Ireland international Norwood, 23, joined the Terriers permanently from Premier League Manchester United in the summer of 2012 and has gone on to make a total of 90 appearances during Town’s time in the Sky Bet Championship.

His final appearance for the Club came in last week’s dramatic 5-3 Capital One Cup win at Chesterfield.

Oliver, who has been a valued member of the squad during his two seasons at the Club, was in the final year of his three year contract, which was due to expire on 30 June 2015.

In recent weeks, the Club has seen the arrival of 21 year-old Conor Coady on a three year contract from Premier League Liverpool (click HERE) as well as Jacob Butterfield on a four year deal from Middlesbrough (click HERE), who opened his account for Town at Reading last night.

Radoslaw Majewski has also bolstered Town’s midfield options when he joined on a season-long loan from Nottingham Forest (click HERE).

With the arrival of these players, Norwood’s opportunities have immediately become restricted.

Oliver was a popular member of the squad with players and staff alike. Everyone at Huddersfield Town would like to thank him for his valuable contribution and wishes him the best of luck in his future career – we look forward to welcoming him back to the John Smith’s Stadium when he visits with Reading.
