Wells looking forward to getting on the pitch at Chesterfield

Town striker Nahki Wells can’t wait to get back out on the pitch to try and put things right after Saturday’s opening day defeat to AFC Bournemouth.

The disappointing defeat, and subsequent departure of Mark Robins on Sunday, has made it a whirlwind start to the season for the Terriers.

“This is the time that we have to pull together,” Nahki told “Change happens in football, although this is a first for me. We have to move on now, because the football continues and this is our livelihood. We represent Huddersfield Town, so we’ve started again ahead of tomorrow’s game.

“It hurts that we got beaten at home in such a fashion. We’re looking forward to Tuesday’s fixture because we want to bounce right back.

“We have to perform better than we did at the weekend, because we have to lift everyone’s spirits. It’s good to have a game coming up, because it gives us the chance to put things right.

“Today’s session has been good. Pre-season was quite good and we reiterated the work we’ve put in during that period.

“Nobody should overlook the talented players we have at the Club. We just have to make it work.”

Town’s Capital One Cup game at Chesterfield is the first of three successive away games, with Championship games at Cardiff City and Reading soon following on.

Nahki continued: “Chesterfield may be from the league below, but they’ll be just as hungry to do well and draw one of the big boys in the next round. We have to go there and be the best we can be.

“We have to be positive. We’ve got three tough away games coming thick and fast over the next nine days, but we’re totally capable of getting some league points on the board and progressing to the next round of the Cup in that time.”
