DIXON: HAPPY TO TAKE THE ASSIST!

6 August 2014

Wing-back pleased with team performance

It may not have gone where he intended, but Paul Dixon was pleased to see Radoslaw Majewski net his first goal in Huddersfield Town colours from his scuffed cross!

The Scottish defender had tried to chip the ball into the penalty area, but instead hit it low towards the on loan Nottingham Forest midfielder who finished superbly.

“I was trying to cross the ball into the middle, but I will take the assist for the goal! Radi stuck it in the net superbly and it was just what we deserved at that point in the match.

“We knew how good they would be and at times they were a class above. We did well in both 45s though, with both teams ending effectively with 1-1 draws. It was an excellent work out before the season starts properly on Saturday.”

Dixon had only a watching brief for the second half as Town’s Development Squad were given a run out, with one midfielder catching the Scotsman eye.

“They were excellent and I thought Jordan Sinnott was magnificent in the middle of the pitch,” Dixon said. “It was also good to see Jon Stead amongst the goals again. Everybody worked hard for one another and I think the Manager will have a few headaches over his selection for Saturday’s match. Hopefully we can take that performance forward into the match against Bournemouth.”

Town looked set to round off their pre-season campaign with a win before Remy Cabella equalised for the Magpies two minutes from time. Despite that little setback, Dixon has been pleased with how his third pre-season with Town has gone.

“The games against Scunthorpe and Oldham weren’t great performances, but at the end of the day it was still game time and that is what pre-season is all about.  July has dragged a wee bit, but that is the same with every pre-season and I just can’t wait to get going; it is important that we start positively.

“Everybody is ready for the challenge and wanting to put in a good performance against a good Bournemouth team.”
