CUP CHALLENGE AT CHESTERFIELD

10 August 2014

A preview of Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup game

Town’s 2014/15 Capital One Cup campaign gets underway on Tuesday night with a tough First Round tie at League 1 Chesterfield’s Proact Stadium.

A trip to the reigning League 2 Champions was one of the toughest first round ties the Terriers could have been handed in the competition’s regionalised and seeded draw.

Chesterfield, managed by Paul Cook, got off to a great start on their return to League 1 on Saturday, recording a 2-1 away win at last season’s beaten Play-Off Finalists Leyton Orient thanks to goals from Irish striker Eoin Doyle and midfielder Romuald Boco.

Boco is one of Cook’s summer recruits – he joined on non-contract terms having spent last season at Plymouth Argyle. It is the fifth time Cook has signed Boco in his career.

Left sided defender or midfielder Daniel Jones also signed for the Spireites during the closed season, as has young Aston Villa midfielder Daniel Johnson on loan.

One of Chesterfield’s main threats is posed by former Town favourite Gary Roberts, who won League 2 Player of the Year last term. He has been playing in an advanced central midfield position or off the flank for Chesterfield.

Chesterfield’s last team (4-5-1):
Tommy Lee; Ritchie Humphreys, Liam Cooper, Ian Evatt, Tendayi Darikwa; Daniel Jones, Romuald Boco, Jimmy Ryan, Sam Morsy, Gary Roberts; Eoin Doyle
