ROBINS: FAR TOO PROFLIGATE

Manager bemoans missed opportunities

Huddersfield Town needs to start being clinical in front of goal if they are to end their current poor form according to Manager Mark Robins.

Town dominated Bolton Wanderers for much of the match, but when well placed, failed to beat Adam Bogdan.

Speaking post-match, Robins said: “The players have been pretty good over the last few weeks, which is difficult for me to say because we haven’t been winning. The two draws prior to today’s game were ok, but we should have picked up wins. We aren’t far away, but ultimately we haven’t won the game. We are too profligate with our chances.”

Danny Ward hit the bar before seeing two close range efforts superbly saved by Bogdan in the Bolton goal. They proved costly when Joe Mason volleyed home from eight yards in the dying moments of the game.

“We dominated the match, but again we are talking about similar fragilities,” said Mark. “We have failed to take chances and then have not defended a corner correctly.

“The players are assigned jobs and they haven’t done them from the corner; it is what they get paid to do. We would have been disappointed if the game had finished 0-0; it is tough to take.

“Everybody could see that we created a lot of chances and had decent passages of play, but we needed that killer instinct. We had very good opportunities in good areas and we weren’t able to make them count, which is frustrating.”

Town outplayed Bolton and Mark wants to see the same against Ipswich on Tuesday, just with an end product.

“Regardless of what happens to me, the way that we are trying to play football is the DNA of the football club. The fans understand that, however, we know that the results need to improve. I like some of the stuff that I see from the players, but there are also things that I don’t like.

“We need to keep working; it is as simple as that. There is no shelter; the games come thick and fast, starting with Ipswich on Tuesday.

“We have got a certain amount of resources at our disposal and we are trying to use them to the best of our ability. You can hear the moans and groans at times, but I believe in what we are trying to do here. I don’t feel under any pressure, it is a great job at a fantastic club.”
