ANTON MOTM ON DEBUT

2 April 2014

A check on Town’s loan players

Town’s Anton Robinson and Jon Stead made impressive starts at their respective loan clubs in the last week.

Midfielder Robinson joined Coventry City on loan in late March and will stay with the League 1 club until the end of the season. The former Bournemouth player hit the ground running with a Man of the Match performance on his debut for the Sky Blues against struggling Stevenage. He has gone onto make two more starts helping Coventry to seven points from a possible nine.

Coventry welcomes MK Dons to Sixfields on Saturday.

Stead followed Anton out on loan when he joined Bradford City on 27 March and, like Robinson, will stay until the end of the season.  Stead has started both games since his arrival, which included a highly impressive 1-0 away win against promotion chasing Leyton Orient and a 0-0 away draw at Coventry.

Bradford’s next game is on Saturday when they play host to Oldham.

Like Stead, midfielder Chris Atkinson is currently with the Bantams. He came on as a late substitute against Coventry in the 0-0 draw. The midfielder, who was also an unused substitute in Bradford’s 2-0 home loss to Walsall, has made one start and three substitute appearances to date.

Martin Paterson is also currently plying his trade in League 1 on loan at Bristol City. After coming on from the bench in his first game, Paterson has started all three games since and was on target in the eighth minute in their 2-2 away draw with Colchester.

The Robins will play host to Preston in their next league game this Saturday.

Finally, Spaniard Cristian Lopez is still waiting for his first start at Northampton Town. He has made three substitute appearances since moving south. In Lopez’s last appearance he was brought on for Alan Connell in the 57th minute and helped secure a 2-2 home draw against AFC Wimbledon.

Northampton’s next fixture is a tricky away tie against Accrington Stanley on Saturday 5 April.
