Major changes to starting XI
Huddersfield Town Manager Mark Robins has handed professional debuts to two players as part of 10 changes to his team for tonight’s Capital One Cup game at Hull City; 7.45pm kick-off at the KC Stadium.
19 year-old Daniel Carr, a summer arrival from non-league Dulwich Hamlet, starts this evening in his first professional appearance; he has netted five goals in just four starts for Town’s Under-21 side so far this term.
Elsewhere 21 year-old Tommy Smith (pictured above) starts his first professional game at centre back. Another regular in Senior Professional Development Coach Steve Eyre’s Under-21 side, Tommy – a former Manchester City trainee – has previously been an unused sub for Town’s First Team on two occasions.
Alex Smithies is the only player in tonight’s line-up who started Saturday’s goalless draw at Blackburn Rovers and he will play behind a back four of Jake Carroll; centre halves Murray Wallace - who makes his 50th career appearance tonight – and Tommy Smith and right back Calum Woods.
Keith Southern captains the side on his first appearance of the season following his calf injury; he partners Oscar Gobern and Oliver Norwood in central midfield. Ahead of them Sean Scannell is expected to play in an advanced role alongside Daniel Carr and Northern Ireland international Martin Paterson.
Senior players Ian Bennett, Adam Hammill, Jonathan Stead and Jazz Richards are among the substitutes this evening alongside Cristian Lopez, Liam Ridehalgh and Under-21 midfielder Duane Holmes.
