TOWN’S TEAM vs. BLACKBURN

21 September 2013

Robins hands Richards his full debut

Manager Mark Robins has handed Jazz Richards his full Huddersfield Town debut in the only change to the team ahead of today’s 3pm Sky Bet Championship kick-off at Blackburn Rovers.

The Swansea City loanee, who is making the 50th appearance of his senior club career at Ewood Park this afternoon, replaces Sean Scannell in the starting line-up.

Robins is likely to shuffle his pack as a result; Richards seems set to line-up at right wing-back with Adam Hammill moving forward to play just off the two strikers, just as Scannell did during Tuesday night’s home win over Charlton Athletic.

The Terriers are otherwise unchanged from their last game, meaning goalkeeper Alex Smithies will play behind a back three of Joel Lynch, Anthony Gerrard and skipper Peter Clarke.

Paul Dixon has retained his place at left wing-back with Jazz Richards on the right; they will flank central midfielders Adam Clayton and Jonathan Hogg, who has recovered from the dead leg that forced him off early in the second-half during Tuesday night’s win.

Midfielder Hammill will play off a front two of top scorer James Vaughan, who has netted nine goals in as many games so far this season, and former Blackburn Rovers man Jonathan Stead; he made 47 appearances for today’s opposition after joining the then-Premier League club from Town in February 2004.
