Norwood also grabs assist in Luxembourg shock
Town duo Martin Paterson and Oliver Norwood played 90 minutes in Northern Ireland’s shock 3-2 defeat at Luxembourg in a World Cup Qualifier on Tuesday night.
Paterson scored his third international goal to put his country ahead during the first-half, but the hosts netted a goal either side of the interval to go into a shock 2-1 lead.
Midfielder Norwood then supplied the free-kick into the penalty area that allowed West Bromwich Albion centre back Gareth McAuley to head home an equaliser, only for the minnows to grab a dramatic late winner.
Paterson now has three goals in 17 caps for his country, whereas teammate Norwood earned his 12th senior cap on the evening
Both players will now return to Huddersfield ahead of Saturday’s Championship game at home to Doncaster Rovers.
