New boy Richards on why he joined Town
New loan recruit Jazz Richards has today explained that the style of play that Mark Robins’ team plays was a major factor in his decision to join Town ahead of several other clubs.
The Swansea City player is set to join the Club on a 93 day emergency loan ahead of Saturday’s game against Doncaster Rovers and explained that he had a few other options available to him:
“I heard about the interest a few weeks’ ago. At Swansea I’ve been looking at possible loan moves as I need to get a few games and there were a number of interested clubs, but when I weighed up my options Huddersfield was the best choice for me.
“I remember playing against Huddersfield for Crystal Palace last season and then the passing was quite long, but I know that the team is playing some really good football now; several people told me the style has changed.
“I’ve spoken to the Manager and he explained how he wants the team to play; that drew me in. It made this the obvious option for me.”
Now, as a Terrier, Jazz is looking forward to a busy month of games – beginning with successive home outings against Doncaster Rovers and Charlton Athletic.
“I’m looking forward to playing. The Manager told me that I will suit the team and he wants me to enjoy myself and do what I do. I like to go forward, get crosses into the box and link up play.
“The Championship is a lot different to the Premier League, particularly as a full back. The wingers in this division are a lot more direct and it can be difficult when you play on a Saturday and then the following Tuesday, but that is what it’s all about when you’re young – playing games!”
He will meet up with his new teammates on Wednesday morning at Canalside and admitted he already knows a couple of the players:
“I know Joel Lynch from Wales duty and I’ve spoken to Ollie Norwood now and then, but I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the squad.”
