JAMES WINS AUGUST CHAMPIONSHIP AWARD

6 September 2013

Vaughan wins Player of the Month!

Huddersfield Town’s James Vaughan has won the Sky Bet Championship’s Player of the Month award for August!

The 25 year-old has brought the form that earned him Town’s prestigious Hargreaves Memorial Player of the Year Award at the conclusion of the 2012/13 season into the first month of the new Championship campaign, netting eight goals in just seven games in all competitions during August.

‘Vaughany’, who also won the Blue & White Foundation’s Player of the Month award for August (click HERE), saw off competition from Troy Deeney (Watford), Andy Reid (Nottingham Forest) and Clint Hill (QPR) to win the accolade.

Huddersfield Town Manager Mark Robins commented:

“This award caps a superb month for James who is a top class, all-round performer and as good a striker as you could want in the Championship.

“Given that he started his senior career at 16, people will forget that James is still only 25 years old. He possesses genuine pace, great movement; he’s strong, brave; good in the air and has a tireless work ethic. Most importantly for us he’s a great finisher – he puts the ball in the net.

“It’s great for James and the Club that he’s getting the plaudits he deserves, but he’ll also be the first to recognise the contribution his teammates have made towards this; they’re the ones that supply him with the ammunition.

“The challenge now for James – and the rest of the players – is to keep this form up for the other 10 months of the season.”
