Young Terriers extend unbeaten start to season

Huddersfield Town’s Under-18 side extended its 2013/14 Professional Development League 2 record to eight wins and one draw from nine games on Friday thanks to a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Canalside.

Town took the lead inside five minutes when striker Flo Bojaj scored his sixth goal in as many appearances and that scoreline remained until the interval.

The Terriers doubled their lead after the break when Jake Charles latched onto Bojaj’s flicked header and fought off the attentions of a covering defender before coolly slotting past the Brighton goalkeeper.

The visitors reduced the deficit fairly quickly through a free-kick on the edge of the area, which was hit low and hard past Town goalkeeper Sam Guthrie, but that simply spurred on Town and they soon finished the tie with two goals.

Under-16 winger Regan Booty netted his fifth goal of the Under-18 season after more good work from Charles, who had driven at the Brighton defence before pulling the ball back for his teammate to fire high into the net.

Second year scholar Charles then completed the scoring and his personal brace late on, firing past the goalkeeper on his favoured left foot.

Town’s team (4-4-1-1):
Sam Guthrie; Mikey Starkey, William Boyle, Joe Wilkinson (c), Brad Carroll; Ben Holmes, Philip Billing, Ben Atkinson (Kedesh Goddard, 60), Regan Booty; Jake Charles; Flo Bojaj

Unused subs:
