“ONE OF OUR STERNEST TESTS”

Robins looks ahead to Watford

Huddersfield Town Manager Mark Robins described Town’s upcoming match with Watford as one of his side’s sternest tests of the season to date.

Last year’s beaten Play-Off finalists have won three of their last five competitive fixtures and recently beat Barnsley at Oakwell 5-1.

“It will be one of the toughest tests that we have faced this season,” said Mark, who has a fully fit squad to choose from.

“They have changed a little from last season, but what they do on the pitch is interesting. They have players who can hurt teams in any situation and we will need to be at our best. If you can’t get up for games like Saturday’s then there is a major problem; we know it is going to be tough, but we have to make it hard for them.

“It is our last game before the international break and I am looking for a big effort from the players,” he continued. “If we produce a good performance then I am confident that the right result will follow. It will take a massive effort from the players, staff and all the fans that come to the game because they can drive us on to victory. We might have to take risks to get the rewards that we are due.

“Watford is a very good side and we will have to work hard to stop them. If we let them play, they will hurt us.”

Although Town are unbeaten in the league since late August, they have drawn four of their last five games in the Sky Bet Championship.

“We want to turn the draws into wins, especially at home,” Mark said. “If we win on Saturday, our points against Blackburn and Middlesbrough look fantastic. There will be ups and downs throughout the season and we just need to keep looking forward to the next game.

“The players are confident and we have out-worked teams more often than not this season. On Tuesday night we were outrun by Middlesbrough; we were excellent during the first twenty minutes, but backed off and allowed them to attack us. However, if we had defended a set-play better we would have come away with three points. It was a good point, though, and we will continue to try and improve on that this Saturday.”
