LOAN WATCH – CRISTIAN MAKES DEBUT

14 October 2013

An update on Town’s six players out on loan

Huddersfield Town currently has six players out on loan – here’s a round-up of their weekend action!

 Cristian Lopez – Shrewsbury – 1 appearance

After completing a one month loan move in midweek, Spaniard Cristian made his debut for Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, starting and playing 74 minutes of their 2-0 home win over Gillingham.

Local paper the Shropshire Star explained that Cristian made an impact on the side and went very close to opening his account:

“In keeping things simple, holding the ball up, knocking passes out wide and making well-timed runs into the box, he helped Town boss proceedings in the final third for much of the game.

“And he so nearly crowned his debut with a goal after Bradshaw’s elaborate back-heel put him in on goal three minutes before the break, following good work from midfielders Paul Parry and Ryan Woods. Lopez was thwarted by the reflexes of Gills keeper Stuart Nelson, who did brilliantly to get down low at his right-hand post to turn the striker’s low, fizzing drive just wide.”

That win lifted Shrewsbury to 13th in the League 1 table, but Cristian and co face a tough game away at Peterborough United on Saturday.

Chris Atkinson and Liam Ridehalgh – Tranmere Rovers
Chris: 15 appearances, two goals
Liam: 3 appearances

Town duo Chris and Liam helped Tranmere Rovers claim a first League win since August on Sunday courtesy of a 1-0 victory at Bradford City.

Liam started on the left wing with Chris in central midfield and the two almost combined in the 41st minute when Chris – who has started every game for Rovers so far this season – headed Liam’s cross towards goal, only for the ‘keeper to save well.

Tranmere, who sit in the League 1 relegation zone, host unbeaten Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Jimmy Spencer – Scunthorpe United – 2+5 appearances

Scunthorpe’s League 2 game at York City was cancelled due to international call-ups at the weekend, so the Iron are back in action on Saturday when they host Exeter City.

 Jordan Sinnott – Bury – 6+4 appearances, 1 goal

Midfielder Jordan Sinnott started what has turned out to be Manager Kevin Blackwell’s final game in charge of Bury on Saturday – a 2-0 home defeat to Morecambe

The Academy graduate played 66 minutes before being substituted, but was powerless to halt a run of seven games without a win for the Shakers; one that has ultimately seen the Manager lose his job.

Bury are away at Portsmouth in League 2 on Saturday.

 Lloyd Allinson - Ilkeston – 2 appearances

Young goalkeeper Lloyd Allinson made his second appearance for loan club Ilkeston of the Evo-Stik League Premier Division on Saturday, keeping a clean sheet as they defeated Frickley Athletic 1-0 on home soil in dreadful weather conditions.

Lloyd and Ilkeston, who are in the Play-Off places, are away at Blyth Spartans in league action on Tuesday night.
