“I WANT A STRONG PERFORMANCE"

Robins looks ahead to Leicester

Mark Robins is expecting a tough test this Saturday at Leicester, but has urged his players to enjoy playing against one of the league’s form teams.

The Foxes have only tasted defeat twice this season and have won 10 of their 14 competitive matches this term.

They do, however, come into the match on the back of a narrow one goal defeat against Doncaster.

“We have got more than enough ability in our squad to challenge teams like Leicester,” said Mark. “The players are playing with plenty of intensity at the moment and look confident. It will be tough, though; I watched Leicester play Barnsley earlier this season and they were very good. Nigel Pearson has done a lot of good work there.

“They are a different type of team to Watford (Town’s most recent opponent), but they have similar principles,” he continued. “They score a lot of goals and have plenty of firepower all over the pitch. It won’t be easy, but nor will any of the games that follow before the next international break. I want to see a strong performance on Saturday and for us to play with plenty of attacking intent.

“We know where we need to improve, but we have a good number of players in our team who can hurt opposing teams. We need to do it more consistently, though. Danny Ward did well last time out and Adam Hammill’s form has been encouraging of late. I want the players to enjoy these types of occasions – the King Power Stadium is the type of place that players should relish playing at.”

Town’s training schedule returned to normal this week following the international break.

“The players and the staff enjoyed some down time and rest during the first week and running repairs were done on those players that needed them,” said Mark.

“The first week goes really quickly and we spent a day doing some team bonding exercises while paintballing. I managed to avoid the bullets apart from those that hit me in the back from my own team, which doesn’t bode well for the players! We have been back to work this week in preparation for Leicester.”

Robins did have one injury concern, though, following the recent internationals.

“Jazz Richards has come back with a problem; it looks like he has a calf strain, but we will know more about that later today. He is a big doubt for Saturday’s game, but we haven’t ruled him out completely.”
