Plenty of winners at Town’s annual Golf Day
Huddersfield Golf Club in Fixby provided the setting for Town’s Flat Cap Golf Day as the Club’s players and management staff competed alongside corporate sponsors and fans!
Unlike last year, the weather held out for the golfers who spent the afternoon taking on the challenging 6,500 yard championship course in a Stableford competition.
17, four ball teams took to the course at 1pm with the majority featuring a representative from the Club. Danny Ward, Anthony Gerrard, Jon Stead, Paul Dixon and Lloyd Allinson turned out for the players while Mark Robins, Steve Taylor and Darren Robinson represented Town’s management team. Commercial Director Sean Jarvis and Club Ambassador Andy Booth were also in the action.
The day began at 11am when players were invited to enjoy a hot breakfast in Fixby Hall and also loosen up on the driving range ahead of the 1pm tee off time. Each golfer was also given a flat cap provided by Royal and Awesome to complete their attire! Once the rounds were completed the golfers retired into the Hall where they enjoyed a two course buffet lunch before learning of their success or failure on the course!

Speaking ahead of teeing off, Gary Wagstaff of Absolute Warehouse Limited said:
“It has been nice to meet Mark Robins and speak to him about how he is finding his job because I have been really impressed with the football so far.
“It has been interesting to learn his ideas and how he expects things to continue on the pitch.
“It is probably the fourth or fifth Huddersfield Town Golf Day that I have attended, but thankfully for once the weather has been kind to us! If everything goes wrong I am just going to hide under my flat cap.”
Chris Chambers of Club Partner Spring Partners added:
“Fixby is a very nice course and the Club has added a few nice touches with the sponsorship boards and messages.
“It is nice to meet the players and management team away from their natural habitat in a more social environment; as long as they don’t win!”
Captain of the winning team Neil Rushworth told htafc.com:
“It was an excellent day, one which was really organised. We brought two of our customers along with us and I think their golf skills were the reason why we won! Good fun was had by everyone, I would definitely recommend a Huddersfield Town organised event to anyone.”
Huddersfield Town’s Events Co-Ordinator Katie Barraclough said:
“I would like to thank everyone who either took part or assisted with the running of the day; it couldn’t have gone any better and the feedback that we have received has been fantastic.
“We are grateful to all the sponsors and companies who donated prizes on the day. I am already looking forward to planning next year’s event!”
