A review of Town’s loan stars
Huddersfield Town currently has five players out on loan - here is a roundup of their recent exploits in the Football League and Evo Stick!
Cristian Lopez- Shrewsbury- four appearances, one goal
Shrewsbury lost 1-0 against one of League 1’s front runners Peterborough United two weeks ago, but Cristian played 66 minutes and created a couple of good openings according to the Shrews’ official website.
His first goal in English football did come on Tuesday night, though, as his bullet header inside four minutes helped Shrewsbury get off to a flying start against Colchester. However, a defensive error cost the Shrews all three points as the game ended 1-1.
Cristian took to his twitter account (@crislopez23) after his goal to thank Town’s players and fans who had messaged him with their congratulations.
Despite scoring his first goal for Shrewsbury on Tuesday, Manager Graham Turner opted to leave Cristian on the bench for Saturday’s game against Brentford. He was brought on in the 71st minute as the Shrews lost 1-0.
Shrewsbury’s next game is at home to Sheffield United.
Chris Atkinson and Liam Ridehalgh - Tranmere Rovers
Chris: 18 appearances, two goals
Liam: six appearances
Town’s duo of Academy graduates faced a tough game against Leyton Orient a fortnight ago and both had chances to score, but could not prevent a 4-0 defeat against the league’s form side.
The pair started the next game against Rotherham in midweek, with Ridehalgh moving to left back from left midfield while Atkinson continued in the centre of midfield. Ryan Lowe’s late penalty earned Tranmere a point.
Chris and Liam both played 90 minutes again as Tranmere recorded an impressive 3-2 victory against MK Dons 3-2 on Saturday, to move them up to 21st in the table.
Tranmere’s next fixture is away at Simon Grayson’s Preston North End.
Jimmy Spencer - Scunthorpe United – eight appearances
Spencer has started Scunthorpe’s three recent games as they carried on their good league form, with two wins to move them up to 9th in the table. Spencer linked up well with Deon Burton in the three games and was unlucky not to open his account.
A trip to York is the Iron’s next fixture.
Lloyd Allinson - Ilketson - 5 appearances
Lloyd has started all of Ilkeston’s last four matches, of which one they have won. However, they sit in fifth place in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division and are still in the Play-Off places.
Ilkeston face Barwell away in their next game.
