Representing Huddersfield Town, Honley won the game at the national stadium with the crucial goal being scored by Harrison Booth.

Following the match, each team climbed the stairs up to Wembley's Royal Box and were presented with their respective medals.

And, after the presentation was complete and the photos had been taken, players from both sides became the npower flag-bearers and walked out with Crystal Palace and Watford as they took to the pitch to contest a place in the Premier League.

In beaming sunshine, the match began under the arch at the home of football with neither side being able to take the early initiative.

The two teams eventually began to settle and the first chance fell to Harris Primary from a corner, which was well dealt with by Honley goalkeeper Joshua Leake.

The Millwall representatives soon found another opening but Holney's captain Nathan Sheard managed to block an effort that came in from distance.

As the half progressed, the chances dried up and the teams ended the first period level at 0-0.

With the support of their family and friends behind them, the players started the second half in the same fashion as the first, with the majority of the football being played in the middle of the park.

Harris Primary's Jason Pepe took aim from distance, while team-mate Tashane Tomlinson tried to weave his way down the right - neither managing to find a way past Holney's sturdy defence.

And the Huddersfield representatives' resilience at the back paid off as they struck the opener just after the 10-minute mark. Noah Thackeray, wearing the number 18 shirt, swung over a corner that found the head of Booth, who nodded home impeccably.

Harris Primary attempted to get themselves back in the tie, doing their utmost to claw an equaliser, but it wasn't to be as Holney's defence averted any danger that came their way.

Honley’s year five teacher and school PE coordinator Angela Marshall commented:

“It was brilliant; the lads really worked their socks off and they deserved the win. They were treated like VIPs with a whole tour of the ground before the match.

“The match itself was a very tense 14 minutes but the winning goal from Harrison was great. It was a set-piece ending with a header of which his dad would have been proud.”

Town legend Andy Booth added:

“I certainly would have been proud to score a goal like Harrison’s but this was a great team performance; they were well organised and worked for each other. They were fantastic.”

Sponsored by npower, the Kids Cup is a national six-a-side tournament for Under-11 school children. The road to the Final at Wembley started back in September with each Football League club having organised their own local stage to find the best team to represent their club.

These schools then progressed to regional finals, where they faced other schools representing their local Football League clubs, for the chance to play at the national stadium.

This was Town’s second win in the competition in just three years; Meltham CE Primary School won the cup at Old Trafford two years ago.
