TEAMS NEEDED FOR CHARITY TOURNAMENT

HTSA hosting ‘Walking Football’ competition on 9 June

Huddersfield Town Supporters Association has organised a five-a-side ‘Walking Football’ tournament to raise funds for the Forget Me Not Children’s’ Hospice.

This event will take place on Sunday 9 June at Soccer City, Huddersfield, from 1pm until 5pm and will include a Huddersfield Town team featuring the likes of Commercial Director Sean Jarvis.

‘Walking Football’ is an increasingly popular way of including people over 50 in competitive sport, but this tournament is open to all ages. The rules are the same as for normal five a side football, but if a team member is spotted as running by the referee, a free kick is awarded to the opposition.

The HTSA is looking for teams with players of differing ages and abilities to participate. Each squad must contain between six and eight players, which must include one player over the age of 45 and one female. All teams will play a minimum of four games on the day, with the price of entry set at a minimum of £50.

Huddersfield Town’s Commercial Director Sean Jarvis commented:

“I’ve played Walking Football before and I thought it would be a breeze – how wrong I was! It’s a perfect way of keeping fit and I’m looking forward to taking part in the HTSA’s competition during June.

“It’s fantastic that the Supporters’ Association has organised this event to back one of the Club’s big charity partners, the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, and I hope as many individuals and businesses can back the event and help them make a difference to our community.”

If you would like to know more details, please contact the HTSA’s John Sealey via info@htsa-online.co.uk or call 07973 745943 before 1 June.
