ACADEMY’S KANE CALLED UP BY IRELAND

8 May 2013

Young defender called up to Under-16 national squad

Centre back Danny Kane, who will join Huddersfield Town as a first year Academy scholar from Dublin-based Cherry Orchard for the 2013/14 season, has been called up to the Republic of Ireland’s Under-16 squad.

The defender is part of a 20-man squad put together by coaches Dave Connell and Tom O’Connor for next week’s UEFA Under-16 Development Tournament in Dublin.

The boys’ tournament kicks off on Sunday 12 May, with Ireland taking on Germany. A day later they play Romania before finishing the tournament with a game against Belgium on 15 May.

Town signed Kane in February 2013 and will join the Club in the summer to work with Professional Development Coaches Frankie Bunn and Tony Carss.

Danny spent a short time on trial with the Terriers towards the end of 2012 and has subsequently spent the holiday periods training at ‘The Yorkshire Club’.
