ALAN PREPARING FOR 1,000 MILE RUN!

7 March 2013

Local fundraiser garners superb support

‘Action Man’ Alan Boothroyd’s 1,000 mile run in aid of the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign is getting closer!

The Town fan from Lascelles Hall is running the length of the UK from Land’s End to John o’ Groats – 50 miles per day for 20 days – beginning on Friday 29 March to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Town’s Academy.

To get ready for the mammoth run, Alan is currently running three hours every week day and up to 40 miles per day on a weekend!

Alan’s run has captured the imagination of the local business community, with a plethora of people helping him out with supplies.

David Elliott of Wellhouse Leisure has donated a campervan to Alan and his support driver for the full duration of the event, with Mark Lee of Town’s Club Partner One 17 Design covering the costs of fuel for the vehicle. Daron Hamilton of DH Technology has given a donation of £1,000 to arranged the signage for the campervan too!

Andy Shuter of Frontline Solutions has covered the costs of Alan’s accommodation for all 20 nights, with Andy Needham of Approved Food has provided all Alan’s food and drink.

Graham Thompson of Xamax has printed Alan’s running tops and Stephen Callaghan from Enterprise Print has provided Alan’s advertising material such as posters, leaflets, flyers and business cards free of charge.

You can see the official route Alan will be taking on his Just Giving page and you can donate there too – visit www.justgiving.com/actionman-uk.
