1,000 MILE RUN STARTS THIS FRIDAY!

26 March 2013

Alan Boothroyd ready for 40 marathons in 20 days

‘Action Man’ Alan Boothroyd’s 1,000 mile run in aid of the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign begins on Friday!

The Town fan from Lascelles Hall is running the length of the UK from Land’s End to John o’ Groats – 50 miles per day for 20 days – beginning on Friday 29 March to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Town’s Academy.

His mammoth task will begin at Land’s End on Friday, taking him through St Austell and Taunton to Bath and Cheltenham by day four. Alan will then continue up through Coventry and Nottingham before he enters Yorkshire at Barnsley on day nine.

Part of Alan’s ninth day will see him complete a lap of the pitch ahead of Town’s npower Championship home game against Peterborough on 6 April before his journey continues through Yeadon and to Penrith, Lockerbie, Lanark, Dunblane and Inverness ahead of the finish at John O’Groats on 17 April.

Lots of businesses have supported Alan to make his run possible and he was joined at the Stadium on Monday ahead of the run, with attendees including organisers Marcus Middleton and Dave Scholefield; Andy Needham of Approved Food; David Elliott of Wellhouse Leisure; Mark Lee of One17 Design and Huddersfield Town’s Sean Jarvis.

Huddersfield Town’s Commercial Director Sean Jarvis commented:

“Now we are on the verge of Alan’s run, I would like to thank him and his team on behalf of the Club. What he’s doing for the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign is truly astonishing and we are all very grateful.

“He has really gone above and beyond the call of duty for two very worthwhile causes in the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and our Academy and it’s fantastic to see the number of partners and businesses who have got behind Alan and helped him out in various ways.

“His efforts truly deserve all the profile he receives and I hope everyone can get behind his magnificent run by pledging whatever amount they can.”
