Huddersfield Town fans will find out full details of the 2013/14 Championship fixture list at 9am on Wednesday morning!
As part of its 125th anniversary celebrations, the Football League has today released six fixtures for the opening day of the new season on Saturday 3 August – with several clubs being paired up against opposition of ‘historical significance’.
In the Championship Burnley will host local rivals Bolton Wanderers at Turf Moor, while Derby County face Blackburn Rovers – both founder members of the Football League.
League 1’s opening day will see Preston North End take on Wolves and Sheffield United take on the oldest Football League club Notts County.
Newly promoted Newport County will take on Accrington Stanley in League 2, with Rochdale facing Hartlepool United in the 137th encounter between the two sides – the most frequently played Football League match between current members.
Town’s Capital One Cup First Round fixture has already been confirmed as Bradford City at home during the week commencing 5 August 2013 (click HERE for full information).
The rest of the 2013/14 Championship fixture list will be released as planned at 9am on Wednesday 19 June.
The 2013/14 season will begin on Saturday 3 August and will conclude on 3 May 2014, with the Play-Off Finals taking place at Wembley between 24 and 26 May inclusive. Other key dates include matches on Saturday 21 December and Sunday 29 December as well as Boxing Day (a Thursday this year) and New Year’s Day (a Wednesday).
