Learner wins Kirklees Adult Learning Award 2013

One of the adult learners based at Huddersfield Town’s Success Centre has been recognised for her efforts and achievements at the prestigious Kirklees Adult Learning Awards.

Held at Huddersfield Town Hall it is the second year running that Success Centre learners have scooped a prize at the annual event.

The staff at Huddersfield Town Success Centre deliver a number of popular and successful Adult Learning courses including Reading Friends, Steps and ‘Catch up with ICT’.

Success Centre learner Pauline Smith won the ‘Most Supportive Learner of the Year’ award after attending Reading Friends and Steps training courses. She supports young people to improve their reading skills at Salendine Nook High School and supported other members of the group in the Steps course that she took part in.

Pauline’s tutor at the Success Centre was Jeanette Palmer who was full of praise for Pauline’s unselfish attitude and caring nature:

“Pauline is a really caring and thoughtful person and always goes out of her way to help others. Pauline commented that attending the courses had been inspiring and had made her realise that she had so much more potential than she was using.”

Pauline is pictured above with Alison O’Sullivan, Director of Children’s Services for Kirklees, who did the honours in presenting the awards on the night.

Huddersfield Town Success Centre is a schools and community focused educational centre jointly managed by Huddersfield Town and Kirklees Council.
