VAUGHAN: TOWN’S A ‘PERFECT FIT’

4 July 2013

James delighted to be a Terrier again!

James Vaughan is back at Huddersfield Town – a move he’s described as a ‘perfect fit’.

The 24 year-old striker completed a much-anticipated permanent transfer from Norwich City yesterday, signing a three year deal, and explained that he has wanted to return to the Club since his season-long loan ended.

“The Club and I spoke towards the end of last season about whether I was interested in coming back – and I was,” James told htafc.com. “I really enjoyed my season here last year and I’m really, really happy that the deal has finally got over the line.

“I know how hard the Chairman, Nigel (Clibbens), Ross (Wilson) and the Manager have worked to get this deal done and I’m grateful for that. Now I’m looking forward to getting back out on the pitch and repaying everyone here.

“I think I have a great opportunity to progress here with a Club that is looking to move forward. Whoever you speak to, from the top to the bottom, has a lot of ambition and I feel we have a great chance of progressing a long way. I can’t wait to be a part of it – for the next three years at the least.

“You can see the Club actively moving forward through the facility at Canalside and other things such as the testing I went through on Wednesday, which was high quality. It’s an exciting time and I can’t wait to get going.”

Town’s 2012/13 Player of the Year went on to explain how the love he’s received from Huddersfield fans only made his decision easier:

“The support I’ve had from the fans, not just in the season but since the season finished, has been overwhelming. I’ve had so many tweets from fans telling me how much they wanted me to come and it honestly made my decision so easy. Knowing how much it meant to them and how much this move means to me, it seems like a perfect fit.”

James is straight into action with the Terriers, joining his teammates for training at Canalside this morning ahead of next week’s training camp in Marbella, Spain.

“I’ve kept in contact with a few of my teammates here over the summer and when they told me they were back in training I’ve been getting itchy feet!

“All the lads will tell you it is a lot easier training for a game and we’ll all be looking forward to the first pre-season game at Chesterfield. Before that there’s a lot of hard work to put in over in Spain next week and I know the lads will be raring to go.”

Among those teammates are last week’s striking arrivals Jon Stead and Martin Paterson and James believes training alongside that duo on a daily basis will help him improve.

“I’ve seen Jon and Martin play quite a lot and I respect them massively. I’m looking forward to training and playing with them as I’m sure it will benefit my game. Hopefully I can bring something that will help them play better as well.”
