TOWN U18s 3 NORTHAMPTON 1

Town’s Under-18 side played its second friendly during this week’s pre-season training camp in Oakham on Thursday morning, beating Northampton Town 3-1.
A youthful Under-18 side, managed by Professional Development Coaches Frankie Bunn and Tony Carss, raced into a 3-0 lead after 50 minutes, with the Cobblers netting a late consolation with 15 minutes to go.
Coaches Bunn and Carss changed the shape of their side after a scrappy opening quarter of an hour and it paid dividends. Under-16 midfielder Regan Booty opened the scoring with 25 minutes gone, nipping between centre back and full back to divert a header into the net from winger Jack Boyle’s cross.
Another cross led to the Terriers extending the lead 10 minutes later, with the trialist striker getting behind the Northampton defence to nod the ball over the goalkeeper.
Town’s third followed five minutes into the second half, with centre back Fraser Horsfall (pictured) heading the ball over the line after a skirmish in the opposition penalty area.
Coach Frankie Bunn told htafc.com:
“As we were after Tuesday’s loss to Peterborough, we’re delighted. We had just five scholars in the team today, so it was great for them and the Under-16 players to get game time against a physically stronger opposition. They will benefit from that in the long run.”
Town’s Team (4-3-3):
Trialist; Bradley Carroll, Joe Wilkinson, Fraser Horsfall, Jacob Hanson; Regan Booty (Adam Porritt 75), Philip Billing, Danny Kane; Jack Boyle, Trialist, Rekeil Pyke (Trialist 60)
