TOWN HEAD TO YORK

16 July 2013

Next pre-season friendly at League 2 outfit tonight

Town’s pre-season campaign continues tonight as Mark Robins’ men travel to League 2 York City; kick-off 7.45pm.

The Terriers opened their 2013/14 pre-season campaign with a 2-1 defeat at Chesterfield on Saturday; Danny Ward scored for Town.

York open their pre-season account with tonight's match before playing Blackpool on the weekend.

York City – 2012/13 season

After gaining promotion the previous season via the Blue Square Premier Play-Offs, York diced with relegation throughout the season before three victories on the bounce at the end of the season secured their survival.

York went 16 games without a win during the first three months of 2013, which resulted in the departure of Gary Mills and saw Nigel Worthington take over the reins. Four wins from their final five games secured their survival in League 2 for another year.

York – ones to watch

York’s squad has already seen quite a considerable turnaround following the conclusion of the 2012/13 season. Key players Jason Walker and Matty Blair have both left to join Ostersunds FK and Fleetwood Town respectively.

Lewis Montrose – a midfielder who played in the League 2 Championship winning Gillingham team last season – has signed a two year deal. Former Norwich City striker Ryan Jarvis has also joined Worthington’s squad of players. Jarvis joined from Torquay where he scored seven goals last season.

Town team news

Like on Saturday, both Anthony Gerrard (calf) and Anton Robinson (knee) will miss the match as will defender Calum Woods (collarbone) who picked up a knock at Chesterfield and is awaiting news. Oscar Gobern will also not play as he recovers from a knock to his jaw.

Town Captain Peter Clarke could play a part after returning to full training following a closed season operation to his knee.

Admission information

Town fans will pay at the turnstiles with prices set at £12 for adults and £6 for concessions (over-65s, under-16s and full-time students with NUS cards).
