KEEP IT UP TOURNAMENT SATURDAY

11 July 2013

6-a-side tournament at the Zone this weekend

Town fan Rob Siswick, who was captain of Team Grey on Pedal for Pounds 4, is holding a six-a-side tournament for the second successive year to raise money for the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign – the scheme that donates funds to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Huddersfield Town Academy.

The tournament will be held at the Zone on St. Andrew’s Road between 3pm and 7pm on Saturday 13 July.

The final of the tournament, which is now full, will be played on the pitch during the half-time interval of Town's home pre-season friendly against Real Betis on Wednesday 24 July!

Town fan Rob, who is pictured above holding the 2012 League 1 Play-Off winner's trophy at last year's tournament, commented:

“We came up with the idea to hold a football tournament after last season’s Pedal for Pounds 3 ride because of the camaraderie between the teams and it ended up being a great day, which raised £1,000 for the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign.

“The final was held on the pitch at half time at the Nottingham Forest game, which for me personally was a dream come true - even though I didn’t score!

“It is a great family event designed to raise funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Huddersfield Town Academy.”

There will also be a raffle on the day. Friends and family are welcome to come along and watch!

On the final day of the 2012/13 npower Championship season, 300 Huddersfield Town fans cycled 250 miles over three days on the Pink Link Pedal for Pounds 4 ‘Tour of Yorkshire’; an event that will take the total raised for the campaign to near £1 million.
