FANS FLOCK TO OPEN DAY

31 July 2013

Record amount attend latest Open day

A record number of Town fans attended the Club’s annual Open Day on Tuesday.

1,653 fans watched Mark Robins’ squad train just days ahead of their season opening fixture at Nottingham Forest, while a further 300 arrived during the day to attend the Stadium tour and signing session.

Turnstiles opened at 10am and immediately fans got the opportunity to watch Town’s latest signings Jonathan Hogg and Cristian Lopez in action with their new teammates.

From 10:30 up until 12pm, Mark Robins and his staff put the players through their paces as the countdown to kick-off continues.

Once training finished fans checked out the team coach, went on a tour of the ground, had a look in the Boardroom, had an opportunity to film a good luck message to the players and had a nosey in the tunnel area and the changing rooms!

At 1pm fans headed over to the Fantastic Media Stand where the players and management held a signing session.

Town Chief Executive Nigel Clibbens commented:

“It was a special day for the youngsters,” he said.

“It was a chance for them to meet the stars that they see on the pitch. Getting close up to your heroes leaves a lasting impression and it was a bit of fun for the players too.”

The Club would like to thank Open Day supporters The Huddersfield Examiner who handed out 1,000 free 2013/14 season guides, which included a special autograph signing page. Also, Holly Bear (Hollybank) and Dude (Kirklees Active Leisure) who entertained the fans along with Terry the Terrier.

Additionally, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Town Foundation, Canalside, Huddersfield Town Supporters Association and Caroline’s Cupcakes all held stalls.

Thanks also to BBC Radio Leeds and The Pulse who both did live broadcasts.
